Privacy Policy

This page has not been translated yet and is shown in English.

PillSeal is designed to be private by default. Your health information stays on your device, and the app never sends it anywhere.

This policy covers two separate things: the PillSeal app, which collects nothing at all, and this website, which collects an email address only if you choose to join the waiting list.

Who we are

PillSeal is made by Collin Arumai Harinath Mendons Jeyaseelan, an independent developer based in Switzerland. I am responsible for the personal data described below, and you can reach me at hello@pillseal.app about anything in this policy, including a request to see or delete what I hold.

This policy says “we” in most places because it reads better, but PillSeal is one person.

What the app collects

Nothing.

PillSeal does not collect, transmit or store your personal or health data on any server. The app contains no networking code, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. There are no user accounts. We do not know who you are, and we do not know that you use the app.

Your data on your device

Your medications, schedules, dose history and the photos taken to confirm a dose are stored only on your device, and in your own device or iCloud backups, which you control. We have no access to them and no way to request them.

If you delete PillSeal, that data is removed with it, apart from anything already captured in your own backups or saved deliberately to your Photos library.

Camera

PillSeal uses the camera for two things:

  1. Scanning a medication label, so it can fill in what it can read for you. The text is read on your device and interpreted by Apple’s on-device model.
  2. Confirming a dose, by detecting that a person is present and raising a hand towards their mouth.

Confirming a dose takes a photo at that moment and keeps it in PillSeal’s own gallery, so you can look back at it later. You can delete any of those photos in the app whenever you want.

All of this happens entirely on your device. PillSeal detects that a face is in the frame. It does not identify whose face it is, does not perform facial recognition, and does not build a face record of any kind. Nothing from the camera is ever uploaded.

Photos library

If you choose to save a dose keepsake, PillSeal adds that image to your Photos library only at the moment you tap Save. It has add-only access, so it cannot read your existing photos.

Notifications and alarms

PillSeal schedules alarms and notifications locally on your device. Nothing about your schedule is sent to us or to any third party.

Subscriptions

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment information. Apple’s privacy policy governs that transaction, and Apple provides us only anonymous, aggregated sales reporting.

The waiting list

Before PillSeal is released, you can join a waiting list on this website. This is the only personal data we ever collect, and it is collected by this website, not by the app.

If you sign up, we store:

  • the email address you give us
  • the language the site was in, so you get the right version of the launch email
  • the two-letter country your request came from, which tells us which App Store countries to prioritise at launch
  • which form on the site you used
  • a shortened, one-way hash of your IP address, salted and rotated daily, which lets us block abuse without keeping your IP address or being able to work back to it
  • the date you signed up

You give us this by choosing to sign up, and that consent is our legal basis for holding it. We use it to send you one message when the app launches, and for nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not rent it, and we do not add it to any other list.

The list is held in a database on Cloudflare’s network, which hosts this website for us. The sign-up form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which receives your IP address in order to check that the request is not automated. Cloudflare handles both on our behalf and not for its own purposes. Its network is global, so your entry may be stored or processed outside Switzerland and the EU, under the standard contractual clauses approved for that purpose.

We keep your address until the launch email has been sent, and delete the list within 90 days after that. If PillSeal is never released, we delete the list instead of writing to you. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe.

If you unsubscribe, we keep your address on a suppression list so that a later import cannot add you back by mistake. If you would rather we erased it completely instead, tell us and we will.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask for it in a portable form, or object to our using it at all. Write to hello@pillseal.app and we will do it. Since the only thing we hold is a waiting-list entry, these are usually settled the same day.

PillSeal is run from Switzerland, so Swiss data protection law applies. Because we offer the app in the EU and the UK, the GDPR and the UK GDPR apply to the waiting list as well.

If you are not satisfied with how we handled your request, you can complain to a regulator: in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner; in the EU or the UK, your national data protection authority; in Brazil, the ANPD.

Analytics on this website

This website uses privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics provided by Cloudflare, which record aggregate page views. No cookies are set, no visitor profiles are built, and nothing identifies you individually.

Children

PillSeal is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly accept waiting-list sign-ups from them. If you believe a child has given us an email address, write to hello@pillseal.app and we will delete it. Depending on where you live, the age at which someone can consent for themselves may be higher: in the EU it is between 13 and 16, set by each country.

Changes

If this policy changes we will post the new version on this page with an updated date above.
